How MacroRove works

MacroRove is an independent tool for people who track calories and macros and eat out at restaurant chains.

Countries and coverage

MacroRove currently covers chains in the United Kingdom and South Africa. Coverage varies: not every chain, dish or branch is included, and new ones are added over time. You can suggest a chain or dish from Support.

Targets and matching

  • Simple mode asks for a maximum calories and a minimum protein for one meal.
  • Advanced mode adds carb and fat targets, rules (at least, at most, close to) and a tolerance.
  • Meals are scored by how closely they fit, and can be sorted by best match, protein per calorie or fewest calories.
  • Combos pair one main with one or two sides or extras from the same chain. Combos that repeat a side the main already includes, or stack several starches, are left out.

My meal and copying to other apps

Tick the dishes you're actually ordering, including more than one, and My meal adds up the calories, protein, carbs, fat and price. One tap copies a plain-text summary, with portions, that you can paste into MyFitnessPal, Gravl or any food log or notes app. MacroRove doesn't connect to those apps or send them anything; you paste it yourself.

What a figure refers to

Nutrition is for the stated serving or order — not per 100 g. Each dish shows its serving and what's included (for example sauces, dressings or a side that comes with it). When the chain publishes figures for only part of what you order, such as half a pizza, that portion is shown in the name, beside the calories, and in the copied order and food log text, along with the whole-item calories where known. A combo's figures are the sum of its items.

Nutrition labels

  • Official figure — taken from the chain's own published nutrition guide or dish page.
  • Added up from official ingredients — calculated by adding the chain's published figures for the components.
  • Estimate — not checked against an official figure.

A combo takes the least certain label of its items. Open any dish to see a direct link to the chain's source, its edition where known, and the dates the figures and menu were checked. Where a chain doesn't publish a value (for example fibre), that is noted on the dish.

Limits

  • Preparation, recipes and portion sizes vary between branches and over time.
  • Prices are typical menu prices and only a guide; branches, city centres and airports differ.
  • Branch locations come from stored lists refreshed weekly or a live map search, and may be out of date.
  • Vegetarian and vegan labels are kept cautious but are not an allergy-safety guarantee. Always confirm allergens and strict dietary needs with the restaurant.
  • MacroRove provides food information, not personalised medical or dietary advice.
